The Diocese of Bridgeport
The Diocese of Bridgeport includes more than 363,000 registered Catholics in Fairfield County, Connecticut, representing 43 percent of the total population. In addition to its 87 parishes, the Diocese sponsors 33 regional elementary schools and five diocesan high schools. These schools, along with three high schools directed by religious communities, educate nearly 14,000 youth (2,500 of whom are minorities and 1,700 are non-Catholics).
Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF)
The Cathedral Education Cluster is a partner of Children’s Scholarship Fund (CSF), a national organization providing educational opportunities to low-income children across the country. As a CSF partner, we are increasing our financial advantage and ability to offer scholarships via the match provided by a portion of funds raised by the Diocese of Bridgeport. CSF was founded in 1998 by Ted Forstmann and John Walton as a program that would empower the parents of 40,000 low-income children across the country to send their children to private schools for four years. Now, over ten years later, CSF and its partner programs have provided scholarships worth $483 million, in turn changing the lives of almost 123,000 low-income children and their families.
